PERSONAL LINES/Farm UNDERWRITER

MAX is seeking candidates to fill a Personal Lines Underwriter position based in Overland Park, KS.  This position will utilize underwriting authority to write and retain profitable accounts and have a sound understanding of MAX Personal Lines products, coverages and program guidelines.  This position will also require MAX Farm Program training in the future.  

Position Specific Responsibilities

• Build positive business relationships with all customers, internal and external, by listening, interpreting, and responding in a timely manner.
• Underwrite new and renewal Personal Lines business according to established company guidelines and within authority level granted. Underwriting reviews will be thoroughly documented and all exceptions to guidelines require approval by the Underwriting Manager. 
• Provide Personal Lines underwriting expertise to MAX agents and staff, including facilitating training needed on new or changing Personal Lines coverage forms.
• Review and address situations falling outside company guidelines realized in ongoing programs such as residential inspections and member survey updates.
• Assist in monitoring and keeping up to date the Personal Lines underwriting guidelines and manuals for use by agents and company underwriters.
• As directed, participate in special project assignments from the Underwriting Manager.
• This position will also require future training in the MAX Farm Program, which will ultimately lead to shared responsibilities to underwrite both MAX Personal Lines and Farm business.

Qualifications

• An attitude of excellence in customer service; ability to build strong relationships

• Associates degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Underwriting experience a plus
• Attainment of professional insurance designations, such as CPCU, AINS, API
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong analytical skills; ability to make independent sound decisions
• Detailed knowledge of Personal Lines and Farmowner policy forms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word
