COMPLIANCE ANALYST

MAX is seeking candidates for a Compliance Analyst based in Overland Park, KS. The Compliance Analyst has accountability for insuring that MAX complies with all applicable laws and regulations in the areas of rates, rules and forms for all offered products. This position handles a number of functions, including policy rate, rule, and form research and filing, internal compliance auditing, functional area regulatory inquiries and reporting, and policy language interpretation. This position also serves as a liaison with other functional areas on issues related to rates, rules, and forms.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Compliance: Monitor and review state legislative and regulatory changes and AAIS product changes using PCI and AAIS bulletins and other industry resources. Communicate changes to other staff as needed. Identify options to comply with new laws and regulations; identify new opportunities, work with others to develop recommendations and implement changes that balance compliance issues and business needs.
- Product Development: Assistance in the development of new and revised MAX forms; conduct competitor and AAIS research to seek out opportunities for improvement; be a subject matter expert for personal lines.
- State Filings: Handle the state filing process via SERFF for MAX rates, rules, and forms, including creation and submission of all MAX filings and managing communications with regulators through approval process. Maintain comprehensive records regarding all rate, rule, and form changes and filing history. Update and maintain all company manuals, forms, and forms lists.
- System Development: Work with the Director of Compliance to create development documents used for the implementation of all rate, rule, and form changes in MAX’s policy processing system and participate in testing of the same.
- Cross Training: Train for and be a backup resource for other areas as needed.
- Effective communication of compliance-related changes to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in formal and informal professional education to maintain currency in compliance and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to AICP, and maintain positive relationships with insurance regulators.
- Occasional travel, as required to perform the above functions.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Director of Compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or similar qualifications) required.
- 3 years of experience in the insurance industry including state filing experience using SERFF.
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications required: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Extensive, broad-based knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, including detailed knowledge of insurance coverages, business processes, operations and the legal/regulatory environment. Specific knowledge of Property and Casualty coverage is a plus.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple tasks with limited supervision.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making, and planning skills. Legal/compliance research experience is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when dealing with the insurance departments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and customer service.
