Cannabis Insurance Wholesalers is a specialty division of
OGA helping agents navigate a complex but profitable new industry.
Job Purpose:To increase OGA's profitability by developing and executing creative marketing strategies to grow the Cannabis Insurance Wholesalers division and position OGA as a cannabis leader throughout the region
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate in strategic discussions about cannabis insurance and our influence in the region
- Demonstrate positive leadership, energy, and influence in a team environment
- Provide leadership to achieve business goals, profit objectives, and best practices standards
- Collaborate with management to ensure solid carrier relationships
- Promote the organization through marketing efforts
- Meet with agents to educate them or provide educational sessions with them
- Support CE classes in Oklahoma and surrounding states
- Develop OGA business opportunities through:
- Adding new carriers
- Generating large revenue accounts serving as lead underwriter
- Developing new product lines and/or program business
- Expanding OGA's geographical footprint
- Actively participate in industry (both insurance and cannabis) organizations
- Develop strategies and execute tactical plans to grow and expand Cannabis Insurance Wholesalers
- Lead and manage and develop the Cannabis Insurance Wholesalers team
- Accountable for the production and successful development of CIW business division
- Skills & Qualifications:
- College degree
- Business acumen
- Experience successfully building and marketing business divisions, product lines, or programs
- Multiple years of combined experience in underwriting, marketing, and insurance operations
- Experience or education in the cannabis industry
- Demonstrates a solid knowledge of the cannabis industry from seed to sell
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance products and their applications in the cannabis space
- Affiliated and connected with thought leaders and influencers in the cannabis space
- Actively following or participating in industry forums, social media, news, and current events; plugged into the legislative landscape, key business issues, threats, and opportunities
- Professional insurance-related courses or professional designations including CPCU, CIC, ASLI
- Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of associates
- Proven ability to author written articles or participate on industry panels as a subject matter expert
- Desire to work in a team environment to support overall profitability initiatives
- Hold a current property/casualty license
- Travel required 15%
