From the Tank to the Top – A Journey of Leadership, Service, and Passion
Craig Most’s journey is anything but ordinary. From commanding tanks in the U.S. Army to leading a successful insurance agency, Craig exemplifies what it means to lead with discipline, purpose, and a heart for service. His story stands as a testament to the power of vision, adaptability, and community engagement.
Tampa Roots and a Foundation of Discipline
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Craig grew up as the oldest of three siblings. His childhood was rich in outdoor adventures, discipline, and achievement—earning the rank of Eagle Scout and competing as a swimmer before switching to water polo during college at Tulane University. His lifelong love of the outdoors and a drive for personal growth took root early.
Outside of work, Craig is an avid swimmer and hiker, enjoys traveling, and takes pride in working in his yard. Most importantly, he cherishes time with his family and dogs, making balance a key priority in his busy life.
A Military Leader Turned Insurance Innovator
Craig’s first professional chapter was one of service—as a U.S. Army officer. After graduating from Tulane on an Army ROTC scholarship, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and served in the 1st Cavalry Division. His role included leading tank platoons in Bosnia during peacekeeping missions, and later advancing to executive officer roles back in the U.S. He left the Army in 2000 as a Captain, taking with him invaluable leadership experience and a powerful mindset: “Death before Dismount!”
Transitioning to civilian life, Craig briefly entered the software industry before finding his true calling in insurance—an industry deeply rooted in his family legacy. With both his father and grandfather having been insurance agents, Craig quickly found his footing. Just two and a half years into his new career, he owned his own agency. Shortly after, he merged with his father’s business to create Most Insurance, continuing a proud family tradition.
His bold leap into entrepreneurship didn’t go unnoticed—Craig and his agency were featured in Rough Notes as the Marketing Agency of the Month in 2013 and again in 2015, highlighting their commitment to excellence and innovation.
NetVU Connections and the Future of Insurance
Craig has been a proud NetVU member for over seven years. He sees immense value in the organization’s commitment to education and connection—key pillars that have helped elevate his agency’s operations. Most Insurance relies on Vertafore’s AMS360 and PL Rating products, and Craig regularly collaborates with other NetVU volunteers to share ideas and best practices.
As the insurance landscape continues to evolve, Craig remains optimistic. He believes technology and community will be the twin engines driving innovation, and he’s eager to be part of that transformation.
Dedication to Growth and Giving Back
What sets Craig apart is his relentless commitment to learning and serving others. Whether it’s through mentoring fellow agents, attending webinars, or constantly expanding his network, Craig believes in the power of community and knowledge-sharing. His proactive approach to networking has not only helped grow his agency but also allowed him to be of service across the industry.
Over the past 12 years, Craig has contributed to several influential industry boards and organizations, including the AIMS Society (serving as president for 11 years), PIA of Florida, Rough Notes Editorial Board, AUGIE, and NetVU. His leadership has helped shape industry practices and inspire the next generation of agents.
In his local community, Craig remains equally active. He volunteers at high school swim meets, supports local schools through PTA and advisory roles, and coaches a Masters Swim team—all underscoring his belief in giving back where it matters most.
Final Thoughts: Passion, Purpose, and Perspective
Asked about the best advice he’s ever received, Craig offers a simple but profound insight: “Life is short, don’t take everything so seriously.” It’s a reminder to stay grounded, focus on what truly matters, and never lose sight of the joy in the journey.
From commanding soldiers in the field to leading with integrity in the boardroom, Craig Most’s path is a masterclass in leadership, resilience, and service. His journey continues to inspire not just within the insurance industry but in every community he touches.
