Attitude Is Everything!

Legendary rock ‘n’ roll drummer Mark Schulman raised the roof and lit up the room at the Accelerate, powered by NetVU, 2022 keynote address.

If you thought rock stars slept in late, think again! At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, we gathered in the Colorado Convention Center’s state-of-the-art Bellco Theatre, where Schulman kick-started the third day of the conference with a heart-thumping level of positivity that woke us up with a bang.

When Schulman took the stage, the audience went wild. But he’s used to that! Schulman’s résumé reads like a “who’s who” of international rock ’n’ roll royalty. One of the industry’s most sought-after drummers, Schulman has played to sold-out crowds with some of the greatest musical artists in history. From P!nk, Cher, and Beyoncé to Billy Idol, Foreigner, and many more, he has toured the world, stopping only long enough to appear on such shows as the Grammy Awards, American Idol, The Tonight Show, and the Late Show with David Letterman. Schulman brought the same high-octane energy to the Accelerate stage, inspiring us with his pumped-up, high-volume pep talk on optimal performance and how to boost our personal R.Q. (rockstar quotient), empowering all of us with his dynamic and innovative business and life strategies.

From the moment Schulman named us the “Accelerate BEATS,” he had us up out of our seats and ready to embrace his “rockstar attitude” life lessons that fuse effective business philosophies with personal growth. Attitude is everything for Schulman, and his proven equation, A x B = C (Attitude x Behavior = Consequences), gave us the tools to reframe experiences and to refocus our minds.

Embracing challenge and the power of change, Schulman is a real believer in working with intent, finding meaning in every task and having a blast along the way. One of his tricks for integrating the rockstar attitude is repeating the simple yet impactful phrase: “I get to.”

This attitude of gratitude really resonated with me personally, and I’m amazed at how well it works in every situation. When my kids are bouncing off the walls before bed, I remind myself that “I get to” be their mom and “I get to” take care of them. It’s a privilege, not a chore, and it affords me a little extra patience and a chance to enjoy the moment

“I get to” works seamlessly in business transactions as well. It’s a touchstone that reminds all of us to honor our own professional rhythm while strengthening our connections with colleagues and clients.

Schulman’s presentation was a real shot of adrenaline that morning. We all felt it. Change your attitude to change your life. So simple yet powerful. We left energized and ready to embrace Schulman’s intentional approach to personal and professional growth, knowing we had the power and the swagger to rock our futures.
