Employee Spotlight: Mackenzie Winn - Strengthening Connections and Elevating Volunteer

By David Waite posted 2 days ago

At NetVU, our people are at the heart of everything we do—and few embody that more fully than Mackenzie Winn. For nearly three years, Mackenzie has brought heart, organization, and genuine care to her work, especially when it comes to engaging and supporting our incredible volunteers.

Originally from Kearney, Missouri, Mackenzie says what she enjoys most about working at NetVU is “working with passionate people that want the best for you.” That passion goes both ways—her teammates consistently describe her as thoughtful, reliable, and someone who always goes the extra mile.

Making an Impact at NetVU

One of Mackenzie’s proudest moments this year was the launch of the Volunteer Manager, a project that has helped members more easily find opportunities and become more engaged with NetVU. Her colleagues say she has a remarkable ability to match the right people to the right roles, making volunteers feel valued and appreciated every step of the way.

Team members describe Mackenzie as:

·      Detail-oriented, organized, and levelheaded

·      Creative, upbeat, and always willing to brainstorm

·      A great team player who jumps in wherever help is needed

·      Someone who truly loves our volunteers

As one teammate shared, “Mackenzie brings so much heart and intention to volunteer development.” Another added, “She helps me think differently about member needs and how we engage volunteers.”

It’s clear that Mackenzie’s thoughtful approach and “get it done” attitude make her a huge asset to the NetVU team.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of work, Mackenzie enjoys baking, traveling, reading, volunteering, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family. She’s also a proud dog mom to Stella, who keeps life entertaining.

Her go-to comfort food? Italian—a fitting choice for someone who dreams of a holiday vacation spanning Germany, Italy, and Greece, or even New Zealand.

A Little Holiday Cheer

With the holidays here, Mackenzie shared a few festive favorites:

·      Favorite holiday tradition: A special Christmas breakfast followed by opening stockings by the fireplace—a tradition she’s happily carried into adulthood

·      Favorite movie: Christmas Vacation

·      Favorite song: Silent Night or Kelly Clarkson’s White Christmas

·      Favorite treat: Her grandma’s shortbread cookies

·      Team real or artificial tree? Artificial—thanks to a family allergy tradition

She also treasures a childhood gift she’ll never forget: giant bean bags that turned into beds, which brought endless fun growing up.

Getting to Know Mackenzie

A self-described night owl, Mackenzie loves both an iced latte and loose-leaf tea. If she could instantly master one skill, it would be carpentry, especially for home projects. One item she can’t live without? Her car, because she loves the freedom of driving.

The best advice she’s ever received is a reminder she lives by:

“What someone else thinks of you is none of your business.”

Looking Ahead

Mackenzie is especially excited about growing NetVU’s presence with young professionals in the year ahead. With her creativity, kindness, and dedication, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to make a meaningful impact—both on our members and on our team.

We’re so grateful to have Mackenzie at NetVU and thankful for the care, clarity, and positivity she brings every day.
