Employee Spotlight: David Waite - A Creative Strategist with a Storyteller’s Heart

By Cole Scott posted 4 days ago

At NetVU, we’re fortunate to work alongside people who bring both heart and creativity to everything they do—and David Waite is a perfect example of that. With five years under his belt, David has become a steady, thoughtful presence whose creativity, empathy, and sense of humor make a lasting impact across the organization.

Getting to Know David

Originally from Clearfield, Utah, David has always valued connection—and that shows in how he approaches his work. When asked what he enjoys most about working at NetVU, his answer was simple and genuine:

“The relationships. Learning from the other employees and seeing how much they care about their jobs and our members. It is inspiring to see their dedication.”

That appreciation for people is something his coworkers feel every day.

A Little Holiday Cheer

The holidays are all about togetherness for David. His favorite tradition is spending time with family—his wife and five children —watching Christmas movies and singing Christmas songs together. While he grew up with real Christmas trees, he’s happily switched sides:

“I hated cleaning up the dead needles. So glad my wife prefers artificial trees as well.”

One holiday gift still stands out decades later: a 1990s Starter jacket of his favorite baseball team.

“I felt so cool wearing the same jacket the big leaguers wore in the dugout… In the early 1990s, it was a feat of commitment on Santa’s part.”

As for a dream holiday getaway? Greece tops his list.

Life Outside the Office

Outside of work, David’s passion for baseball shines—both playing and coaching. When it’s time to unwind, you might find him watching The Office, Ted Lasso, Stranger Things,  Big Bang Theory, or revisiting the classic Cheers. And while many of us rely on coffee to get through the day, David prefers to keep things unconventional:

“I don’t like to drink things that taste like dirt. I love Coke, Lemonade, and Root Beer.”

He also describes himself as both an early bird and a night owl, enjoying the energy of late nights and the calm of early mornings—a balance that somehow works for him (and occasionally drives his wife a little crazy).

One fun fact that might surprise you? David loves painting and customizing shoes, a creative outlet that perfectly complements his professional strengths.

The David Effect

If you ask David’s teammates what makes him special, a clear picture emerges. He’s described as:

•    Creative, strategic, and thoughtful
•    One of the nicest and most empathetic people on the team
•    A great storyteller with a sense of humor that lightens stressful days
•    Always collaborative, patient, and willing to jump on a last-minute Teams call

Colleagues consistently praise his ability to turn ideas into clear, compelling communication and his willingness to brainstorm—even under tight, overlapping deadlines. One teammate summed it up best:

“David is one of the most positive thinkers I’ve ever worked with—there’s always a positive angle when he’s working through an obstacle.”

Looking Ahead

As NetVU looks toward the future, David is especially excited about NetVU+ and Accelerate, and all the opportunities ahead in the coming year.

We’re grateful for David’s creativity, kindness, and dedication to the team. He puts people first, brings imagination to every project, and makes NetVU a better place to work—one conversation, one idea, and one perfectly timed joke at a time.
