Hybrid Workplace Success Story

Clients and partners often ask what we think is the ideal work setting. Prior to 2020 our team worked from the office every day, and every employee still finds value from working in the office some days, even if that is two per year. At Simply Easier Payments, we’ve discovered that the key isn’t only where our team physically works; it’s how we stay connected, collaborate, and grow together. This leads to higher employee retention, higher employee satisfaction, and higher quality customer service.

In year one, new employees are required to work from home no more than two days per week. This period is crucial for building relationships, understanding the company dynamics, and learning.  Being face-to-face fosters mentorship and helps the new employees gain confidence while adding a fresh perspective. In turn, Simply Easier is dedicated to fostering a workplace where our team genuinely enjoys spending time and connecting with one another.

After year one, employees have more flexibility in their schedule. They have a good foundation needed to work independently while still feeling connected to the team.  We use digital tools to keep communication seamless; videos calls, shared files, and project management platforms to help bridge the gap between remote and in-office.  Even with this flexibility, many still choose to come into the office to collaborate, recharge, and connect with the rest of the team.

Our Chapel Hill office is our home base used for client meetings, events, and team gatherings.  We come together quarterly in person for team-building sessions and community outreach activities.  These events strengthen our culture and reinforce our company's values. We also love hosting visitors in our local area, whether it’s catching a game, exploring local events, or enjoying all North Carolina has to offer. Because not every employee is in the office every day, we’re able to operate efficiently with a smaller footprint, maintaining only what we truly need. This reduces overhead costs and enables us to further reinvest in the team.

When you invest in a space for growth, everyone wins.  When considering how your business should operate, focus on designing a culture that invests in understanding your employees.  How do they work best? What motivates them? What support do they need to thrive?
